We would like to invite you to participate in the training organised by VšĮ Žmogiškųjų išteklių stebėsenos ir plėtros biuras.
We organise and deliver non-formal training on teamwork. We also offer non-formal training implemented using forum theatre method.

Moreover, we deliver training upon the client’s request. It may be organised based on the prepared and accredited programmes or we may prepare training according to the specific request of the client.

Description

One of the biggest problems that social workers face today is the lack of time and using it efficiently. By performing many different functions, but without having to rationally manage their time resources, they do not carry out their intended tasks and work in a "constant lack of time" mode, and therefore they suffer from chronic stress, which causes various harmful consequences for their health and quality of life. Therefore, the approach to time management becomes an essential factor in the personal effectiveness of social workers, not only in work, but also in other areas of life. The training will introduce and teach the practical application of time-planning methods that are effective in social work, and the principles of personal efficiency that enable a person to accept full responsibility for the results of their activities.

During the theoretical classes the lecturer will introduce the participants with the essential principles of time planning, methods of time planning that can be used for increasing the efficiency of social work; Lecturer will also introduce the importance of personal effectiveness in order to achieve professional aims in social work, responsibility, personal vision and choosing aims and their implementation, coherence with oneself and others.

During the course of practical classes, by discussing the cases presented, the analysis will be conducted of the key mistakes in managing the time resources most often made by social workers; during the discussion, it will be learned how to identify and manage the "time thieves" encountered in social work, while practicing, participants will consolidate theoretical knowledge, will try stress-reducing breathing techniques.

Description

Creating a motivating environment in social service institutions is one of the most important factors for the effective social worker's activity; the quality of the provided services directly depends on their qualification and motivation. A low prestige of social worker's profession in society has the negative impact on motivation, constant encounter with negative phenomena of life, uncertain criteria for measurement of work performance, a large number of clients, overtime, and low wages. This programme is designed to increase employee awareness of motivation enhancement and learn how to create an individualized plan of change that will encourage employees' internal and external motivation in working with their clients. Each social worker who has a better understanding of motivation theories and various motivational methods, principles – will be able to apply them in practice and will more easily find individual measures promoting him / her for more effective work with clients.

During theoretical lectures the lecturer will introduce participants with theories of motivation and their possible practical application, lecturer will also introduce factors that influence the strengthening of their internal and external motivation, present four principles that prompt motivational speech principals and their main aspects that will help social workers to motivate themselves for changes in work with clients more effectively.

During the course of practical classes, social workers will be included in the task called ideas of rain, which will help to consolidate the theoretical knowledge. Also, in the course of practical tasks, various motivational games will be performed - the tasks that enable participants to test themselves in their performance and evaluation. Social workers will be involved in group and individual work and, using the simulation game method they will portray a real life situation using the principles of motivational conversation; the aim will be to find a formula of success that would motivate the employees.

Description

We have acquired a lot of project writing experience, that we want to share with you!

These are the trainings on project writing and fundraising for the organization.

The purpose of the training is to help participants obtain practical project writing skills. Participants will hear not only the theory but also the examples of successful projects will be presented,  their success factors will be analyzed,  concrete examples of national and international project preparation will be presented (Erasmus +, Nordplus, etc.). During the training participants will fill out a learner's diary, therefore, after the training they will have a simple plan of the potential project. During the training the websites for information on funding opportunities will also be presented.

A non-formal education certificate will be issued after the training.


4. TIMESLIPS AND OTHER INNOVATIVE METHODS IN SOCIAL WORK WITH ELDERLY AND DEMENTED PERSONS

Description

Currently, a new approach to the treatment and nursing of dementia patients is emerging, as the physical and mental effects of dementia are irreversible, affecting both person's behavior and his relationships with other people. Studies have found that health and in particular social services for dementia patients are inadequate, and it is precisely the services that are needed for this group. Professor Anne Basting has developed the TimeSlips method, which is based on a creative storytelling. Using this method, residents of care home get involved into activities, are more active, workers and residents interact more with each other, the attitude of employees towards the elderly improves.

During the theoretical classes participants are presented with the basic principles of social work with the elderly, demented individuals: old age, senile dementia and its peculiarities, general features of geriatric rehabilitation, innovative working methods applied abroad with elderly, demented individuals: communicating in a different way, joy of touch, self-expression through movement,  creation of poetry, breaking the prejudices about the elderly, an appropriate dictionary for the communication with elderly people, demented individuals, improving the quality of life of social care institutions in cooperation with museums.

During the practical part of the training, social workers will do short exercises for developing immediate, visual, digital and long-term memory, and perform various tasks that help to see the positive effects of aging, develop patience, empathy, recognizing emotions through movement, activation of the body, formation of relations through contact, assistance during certain moves.

Description

By communicating, we can convey to other people what we think or feel. Only communicating people can educate others and improve themselves, teach and learn. Attentive interlocutor will be often able to understand and evaluate a lot from the posture of another person, shaking hands, eyes, facial expression, and voice timbre. Non-verbal communication is the easiest way to convey satisfaction, dissatisfaction, pain, sympathy or antipathy for another person. Body language is more expressive than words so we should be well aware of its elements as they directly reflect human physiological responses and their proper use allows us to improve social communication skills, develops the ability to accurately describe ourselves without using words. This program is aimed at expanding the knowledge of social workers (those working with service users) in relation to the importance of body language (non-verbal) communication with clients.

During theoretical classes participants are acquainted with the concept and characteristics of body language (non-verbal communication), elements of body language (non-verbal) communication (posture, gestures, facial expression, voice tone, etc.), their importance helps to understand the service user better, introduce non-verbal communication features, which are related to the reality, communication, necessity, expressed relationships and feelings and multiplicity of non-verbal communication.

During practical exercises, various games will be used to promote recognizing body language; the situations presented will be analyzed in connection with body language (non-verbal) communication functions, communication messages. Non-verbal communication features will be provided with the help of drawings.

6. METHODS OF SELF-HELP IN OVERCOMING EMOTIONAL STRESS IN SOCIAL WORK

Description

Social workers are a group of specialists who are constantly exposed to stress in their work. This is one of the problems of professional development, which has recently been constantly demanding targeted and useful problem-solution methods helping to minimize stress in the work of providing social services. It is important to take care of your emotional health - to increase emotional and spiritual immunity. This program aims to broaden the knowledge of social workers about stress, strategies for coping with it, and self-help strategies so they could deal more easily with stress and pressure at work. Being able to help themselves they will obviously be able to provide high-quality services to service users and, in turn, to help them become more immune to stress.

During the theoretical part of the training participants are introduced about what is stress, its causes, its types, physical and emotional signs of stress, and various strategies for coping with stress at work: optimization of their work organization, individual tolerance to fatigue, i.e. immunity to stress enhancement; change of situation; avoidance of the situation; change of approach to the situation; help and support search, etc.

In the course of practical classes, social workers will identify the main triggers of stress in their work and learn the main resolution methods of stress situations, they will be included in a simulation game, which will simulate conflict situations that cause stress at work.

7. HOW TO OVERCOME SERVICE USER’S RESISTANCE

Description

There are many situations in the work of a social worker when they encounter a customer's reluctance to cooperate in the course of their work. A social worker should not forget that there are certain types of service users who will definitely resist the consultation process. It is very important in the practice of social work to develop productive solution methods while handling with service user’s resistance. It is one of the keys to better consensus between the worker and the service user, while promoting more productive work and more efficient solution to the problem of the service user.

During the theoretical part of the training, the participants will be introduced to what is the service user’s resistance, the reasons for the resistance, the negative resistance cycle, the consultant's mistakes during the consultation, and the types of manipulative service users. The emphasis will be on how to identify manipulative behavior. They will also be introduced to the main principles that help to handle with the resistance and also there will be a discussion about questions that should not be asked during counseling.

During the practical part of the training, social workers will be included in the brainstorming, discussion and work in pairs - this will allow to consolidate theoretical knowledge.

8. PROBLEM SOLVING USING THE METHOD OF FORUM THEATRE

Description

Social workers are trying to find the most appropriate solutions to social problems while solving them. The Method of Forum Theatre helps to visually see and address the actual social issues in our society. Although the Forum Theater is used effectively in many countries of the world, in Lithuania it’s a new method. This method helps to better understand oneself and the people around you and the world. It is also a tool that allows you to change the existing circumstances and find a way out of a difficult situation: participants learn how to solve emerging problems creatively, develop communication skills, and get rid of communication fears. The structure of the forum theater includes a group of actors / participants who present a small performance that dramatically portrays a social issue, which is relevant to the audience. The audience is given an opportunity to change the situation by participating in the performance and test new behavior models.

During the theoretical part of the training participants are introduced to the story of the theater of oppressed. Presentation of the Forum Theater and how it emerged, the main principles, terms used in the Forum Theater, examples of applying the Forum Theater method.

In practical workshops there will be exercises, also games will be played, which will help to get ready for the play of Forum Theater. The situations will be played.

Description

Introductory training program, providing basic social work knowledge for employees of individual care, revealing general principles of professional activity, employee qualities and skills relevant to the profession of social work.

The issued certificate is valid at the time of attestation of social care institutions administration service under the Ministry of Social Security and Labor.

10. WORK WITH AGGRESSIVE SERVICE USERS

Description

More and more frequently employees in various fields encounter with both verbal and physical aggression of service users. They have to recognize early expressions of possible aggression and know the appropriate reaction.

Participants are introduced with the theories about aggression, its forms and expressions in social work, reasons of aggression manifestation and their link with gender, age, illnesses and emotions.

In the practical part of the training participants work in groups which enables to assess their theoretical knowledge, learn more about aggression, find ways to change aggressive behavior, forms of anger management, create anti-aggressive environment. Various methods help to develop emotional competence.

Target group: social workers, social work assistants, other specialists working with aggressive service users.

11.SOCIAL WORK WITH AGGRESSIVE CHILDREN, TEENAGERS

Description

Children and young people are very sensitive about personal and social problems and may be easily affected by the negative environment. Aggression is a common among children, teenagers and young people. Very often we hear about bullying, acts of physical aggression among peers. The situation in this field is only getting worse, therefore, it is very important that social workers and other specialists working with children and teenagers would have specific knowledge related to childhood and adulthood and how to behave appropriately in the event of aggression outburst. They also should know how to teach children and young people to manage their impulsive reactions and develop emotional competences.

During the theoretical part of the training participants are introduced with types of aggression, the change of aggressive of behavior depending on age, the differences of gender aggressiveness, and reasons of aggression emergence. During practical part of the training the situations related to aggressive behavior of children, teenagers are analyzed and solved. Various games which induce the socialization process, anger management are used.
